Title of talk: The SDGs Local Learning Studio: Building Knowledge and Community.
Description: In August 2025 LLS put out a call for built environment projects that localise the SDGs, and address issues of justice on the ground. A partnership between CSUD at Columbia University, the Royal Danish Academy and the Federal University Rio de Janeiro , the LLS is based on the premise that through action and dialogue, educators, student designers, researchers and communities can play a transformative role in achieving the SDGs in their home cities and towns.
The call for projects resulted in over 60 projects from over 20 countries. These projects (which include a short video) have been uploaded to the soon to be launched Local Learning Studio SDGs in Action gallery. The gallery aims to share knowledge and pedagogical approaches from around the world, while building a community of students, teachers, researchers with an interest in achieving the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda.
The talk will discuss the LLS concept and goals, show selected Gallery projects and videos, and seek feedback on the concept and outcomes.
